## Set up Forms, step by step

By the end you have a live form with its own link, and every answer lands where somebody acts on it.

Before you start, have these ready

- What you want to ask, and who will be answering.

1. ### Create a form

Open **Forms** and press **New form**. Give it a name, such as Job application.
  [Open Forms](https://dbrij.com/forms)
2. ### Write the questions

Describe the form in a sentence and the questions are drafted for you, or add them yourself. A question can appear only when an earlier answer calls for it, and a page can skip ahead when it does not apply.
3. ### Say what an answer becomes

On What it creates, choose where each answer goes: a candidate and a task, a lead in the pipeline, a support ticket.
4. ### Publish and share

Press **Publish**, then open **Share**. Copy the link, download the QR code, or paste the embed code into your own website.

You will know it worked when the link opens your form for anyone.
5. ### Watch the answers arrive

Responses lists every answer, and Waiting on you collects the ones that need a decision.
  [Open Waiting on you](https://dbrij.com/forms/waiting)

## Questions people ask

### Do people need an account to answer?

No. Anyone with the link can answer. Starter can limit it to one response per person.

### Can I change a form after publishing?

Yes. Edit it, then press Publish changes. Answers already given stay filed as they were.

### Can answers go straight to my spreadsheet or team chat?

Yes. On Connect, turn on the live spreadsheet link, or add a chat channel or a webhook. Every new answer is sent the moment it arrives.

### Can people finish later?

Turn on Save and finish later in Settings. People get a link, by email if they like, that brings them back to where they were.

## How each part works

### [What Forms is](#what-forms-is)

Forms collects answers and turns each one into the work it stands for: a task somebody owns, a lead in the pipeline, a ticket with a clock running. Not a row in a spreadsheet nobody opens.

### [Good to know](#good-to-know)

- What the answers say summarises every response, and Drop off shows where people give up.
- Settings holds the welcome and thank you screens, email alerts for your team, a confirmation email for the person answering, quizzes, a password, and other languages.
- Calculations work out totals and prices from earlier answers as people fill the form in.
- Download every response as CSV or Excel, or one response as a PDF.
- When Forms is on a paid plan, its Billing page is in the Forms menu.
